Stepping into the shadows of Mt. Moon it is time to begin Goldman's training. First, though, I encounter a Zubat. A whole cave full of possibilities and I catch a level 7 Zubat. At least he was an easy catch. Wish it was a Geodude but Vlad and Goldman will do. So let the grind begin, right? Another Zubat, switch out Goldman, Gorbash uses ember. Repeat. Stumble across a trainer, use Vlad occasionally. Repeat. Most of the trainers can't take an ember or a metal claw from Gorbash. She is rocking everyone around and out. At one point I use an escape rope to heal up when Vlad and Gorbash are getting tired then set out again to the lower levels.
Team Rocket doesn't seem to be much of a problem until I'm within a hair's breadth of getting out. This one's Zubat is fast and his supersonic confuses Gorbash. She hits herself twice rather than use ember and I don't have any potions left. Vlad is still a level lower and low on health himself, so he can't take it. I risk it...
Gorbash is fine, Zubat is dead and gone and I can go forward. She takes care of the young scientist trolling the cave for fossils and he offers me one...I take the helix fossil. Maybe I'll need this sometime later too. I make a dash for the exit, have a close call with a Paras but I escape the battle before Goldman can either gain anymore experience points or take anymore damage.
Stepping out of the cave I meet two martial artists. I take one up on his offer and Gorbash now knows Mega Punch, Smokescreen, Ember and Metal Claw. I hop over a ledge and head to Cerulean City's Pokemon Center for a rest for today...
